Playing Cronos is a juggling act: spending too much time in Penguin form can result in him being punished hard, while ignoring it entirely can leave him falling behind due to lack of blue life recovery. While the Phoenix is able to dish out a large amount of damage, its duration is limited, so maximizing combos is important smart activation of the Phoenix can be the difference between closing the round with a big damage combo or wasting the duration of the form. While in Phoenix Form, all of Cronos' attacks are enhanced: they become faster, special-cancelable and gain better hitboxes, along with gaining a new set of Beast attacks and enhanced Beast Drives. Overall, Cronos does not want to spend all his time in Beast Form, unlike other characters where Cronos really shines is with his powerful Hyperbeast form: the Phoenix. However, it is able to steal Beast Gauge from the opponent with its Diru Paanaa Beast Drive, and has some decent Beast attacks (such as 5B and 6B) good for setting up tick throws and Diru Paanaa, as well as a high-damage Pursuit attack. His regular Beast Form, the Penguin, is rather weak: it takes more damage than his Human Form, has poor range and mobility, and makes Cronos lose access to his command throw.

Cronos is a unique character within Bloody Roar: he's the only character with access to two Beast Forms.
